About the Project

Welcome to the Just Because Project, I am so happy that you have found your way to my site! So, what is this project all about?? Well ever since I had baby teeth, I have been trying to make people happy. One of my favourite songs to sing to people was Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy”. Unfortunately, I did not get the vocal cords of my cousin but have more in common with my brother, who was encouraged in music class to sing more softly. Or in my teens, I thought I had come up with a magic concoction that could heal any kind of skin ailment. It may have caused a reaction to some who tried it (thank goodness for family Guinea pigs), but when I gave it to a boy at school who had dry skin, he claimed it worked wonders. We are still friends today, so I like to assume he was not lying. Chemistry and music were never my strongest subjects but wanting to help enrich the lives of others has been something that I have always enjoyed doing. The Just Because Project is inspired by my mom, who had such a generous heart and the countless family, friends, teachers and strangers whose kindness and selfless acts over the years have influenced who I am today.
Without sounding too cliché, it really is the small things that can make a difference in people’s lives. Something as small as; a free coffee, a thank you note or a thoughtful gesture can have a bigger impact than you could possibly know.  That is one of the most exciting parts of this project, not knowing how far the ripple effects will travel from just one act of goodness. I hope to show how with some creativity, support of a community and a little bit of love, one person really can make a difference AND without breaking the bank. If I bring a smile to your face, goosebumps to your arms or make you feel inspired, then I have accomplished what I have set out to do. Follow me on my journey for the next year, as each week I will complete a new act of goodness and hopefully make someone’s day just a little bit brighter.  Still wondering why?
Just Because… it feels good to do good.
