7. Doing Some Good in the Neighbourhood

7. Doing Some Good in the Neighbourhood

“Oh, I love trash!
Anything dirty or dingy or dusty
Anything ragged or rotten or rusty
Yeah, I love trash” ( I love Trash Song Sesame Street)

I can’t say that I have the same enthusiasm for trash as Ocscar the Grouch. BUT we can agree that I would rather see it in a trash can then all over the ground! I decided that before the rain, yes RAIN comes that I wanted to do a little clean up. There is a section that may as well be called Garbage Alley, so many forgotten ‘treasures’ get blown into the fence. With my ‘helper’ in tow, we set out to do some cleaning. Worst helper ever, she just lounges and babbles…With one hand pushing a stroller and the other carrying a garbage bag, we managed to get a full bag in less than 30 minutes.  Impressive we are. I drew the line at the used condom..seriously wtf, on a main a pathway?? Whoever left this behind needs a little lesson in how to properly dispose of items such as this. Clearly they need to watch Blue Crush, the housekeeper does a very good job of explaining how this works! Anyhow, most neighbourhoods schedule a  community garbage pick up day(s), but you don’t need to wait around for this day to come, if you see something that needs fixing in your neighbourhood, just do it. Here is a challenge I’m throwing out, if your neighbourhoods doesn’t have a scheduled community clean-up, be the one you initiates this positive act.

The Purse Strings…The cost of a garbage bag soooo approximately $0.38

Just Because…everyone benefits when we have a clean community to be proud of.
